Overview of GenAI Capabilities

Flowable’s generative AI features were first introduced in version v3.17.0+. These capabilities enhance both the modeling and runtime experience by providing generative AI-assisted functionality aimed at improving productivity and reducing manual effort.

Setup

In order to use these features, you have to setup Flowable with some environment properties to properly connect to an AI service (in particular an LLM chat model) and use those features inside Flowable Design and Work.

The AI Setup Guide outlines the available options for configuring Flowable to use its built-in AI features. This setup is distinct from the configuration of agent models. Whereas agent models are dynamic and defined as part of the model logic (e.g., in BPMN or CMMN), the generative AI features are integrated into the platform itself and rely on a separate, static configuration. These features are available out of the box and do not require modeling custom agents to function.
